Makeover! Gingerbread! Giveaway!

Phew, that’s a lot of excitement for one post! As you can see, I’ve changed the look of things at Daria Can Cook. My old theme was giving me fits, so I’m trying this one out for a change. I hope you like it! And I hope I can figure out how to customize it…me no computer good at typing on.

In other news, we had our first snow in Boston last week, which means that I finally feel like making holiday treats. First on my list was gingerbread. I am a ginger fiend. I eat candied ginger on a daily basis. I make tea (well, technically it’s a tisane, but potato potawto) out of ginger roots. It is, in my humble opinion, one of the best spices in existence.

I tried my hand at this recipe for black sticky gingerbread. I only had 1/4 cup of molasses instead of the required 3/4 cup, but I made up for it with extra honey. The result was a deliciously moist, gingery, spongey spice cake.

Trent and I served it with hot buttered rum and settled in for a cozy winter movie night. It was lovely.
